On the 27th of July 2024, the Dewsbury Rams R.L.F.C. had travelled to a sweltering South of France to undertake arguably one of the hardest tasks in semi-professional Rugby League. The Stade Ernest Wallon had the week before seen the league leaders (previously unbeaten Wakefield Trinity Wildcats) sent home with their tails between their legs after a heavy defeat. A small, but loyal band of hardy souls had made their merry way across the Channel in scorching heat to give their backing to the Rams.
